The only thing I don't like about these pastels is it is difficult to get a sharp, clean edge and I am such a detail person. I have never really played around much with my oil pastels - I think I always felt like they are too much like crayons. But today, a fellow artist on Drawspace asked if one of my drawings was an oil pastel (it was actually a chalk pastel) so I decided to go upstairs and dig out my box of oil pastels and try something. And I LOVED IT!!!! I really like the way they look, the way they blend, everything! I really enjoy drawing with chalk pastels. As is obvious in my technical work, I am very much a realist. I particularly like still life and foliage for subject matter.
